About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Join local beekeeper Colin Coyne as he inspects one of our hives here at AOOA.

During your time with Colin and the bees you’ll have a chance to learn the contents of a hive, the different types of bees within the hive, the 3 stages of development, the life cycle of a honeybee, and the challenges pollinators face today. If we are lucky, you may even get to taste honey directly from the hive or see the queen!

If you're interested in becoming a beekeeper or want to learn more about one of agriculture's favorite pollinators, this workshop is for you.

Please consider bringing a notebook. Suitable for adults and children 5+.

About the instructor: Colin Coyne has been keeping bees for over ten years at local farms, the Storm King Art Center, and at home. His passion shines through in his talks, inspiring listeners to gain a deeper understanding and to make the world a friendlier place for our bees.
